Danish design icon for children

This rocking horse from danish designer Kay Bojesen is my boys favorite toy. Carl-Gustav is soon four years old and likes to play cowboy. Soon will brother Ferdinand also discover the fun riding horse in our living room.

Kay Bojesen (1886-1958) graduated as a silver smith in 1910 after completing his apprenticeship at Georg Jensen. In the 1930s he explored his passion for wood. 

Creating animals that matched his belief that a product should be 'round and soft and feel good in your hand". The lines in a design should "smile". The Rocking Horse has been in the Bojesen family since 1936. Kay Bojesen’s intention was never to create an exact replica of any animal. It is an exact replica created from Kay Bojesen’s original drawings. Kay Bojesen has created treasured and beloved characters that appeal to the child within us

all.
